69th REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS AT ‘THE PUPIL’
The 69th Republic Day of India was celebrated by the Students, Staff and Parents of ‘The Pupil’ on 26th Jan 2018, at the school premises. The high priority given by the school to bring focus on the need of the hour - Unity and National Integration – amongst the students and emerging youth of today, was never more apparent than at this sober yet joyous occasion.
The program began on the extensive grounds, with the School band welcoming the Chief Guest, the honorable Lt. Col. V.K.S. Negi, who has a close relationship with the school in the capacity of a parent. After the hoisting of the tricolor followed by a respectful salute, the school band treated those assembled to a rare piece of conducted music, which displayed the multivariate talents through some artistic baton twirling and display. After the singing of the National Anthem, the entertainment by the children continued in the Auditorium.
The second part of the program began with a Prayer song and welcome address to the dignitaries. This was followed by the cherubic Junior Choir with a rendition of patriotic song ‘Kodi parakudu’. Then the group was treated to a medley of songs by the older Choir, which rang truthful and sounded like a clarion with its messages of pride and passion for the Indian nation. The artistic euphoria continued through a fusion dance, consisting of Bharathnatyam, Kathak and Bhangra, which shone with charm and grace, highlighting the cultural ethos of the length and breadth of the country.
Our student Miss Vidhyasree gave a soul-searching talk on need for National Integrity in the minds of the students, which left a lasting impression on one and all.
It was time then for the Chief Guest, Shri. Negi to share his 20 year experience with the Indian armed forces, which kept the assembled in thrall, be it about the risky 72 hour vigil on the Siachen glacier or the years of disciplined training in the defence forces. He also entreated all students to seriously consider joining the country’s defence forces and enjoy its multi-faceted, exciting lifestyle and sense of satisfaction in contributing to the country’s future and its Gen ‘Z’.
The day’s proceedings ended with a vote of thanks by our Headboy, Pon Sairam who succinctly brought the day to a close, leaving the group stirred and full of patriotic fervor.
